3 patients

Yesterday at the VA was a pretty good day, I saw two patients in the morning and one in the afternoon. My first patient had remarks in his notes that he got impatient and needed to stand up a lot. After I took his blood pressure which was high he got up like he was ready to leave my instructor came in and told me I could get started because I needed to do SR/P on his UL and LL. I would have said he was a perio maintenance because there wasn't much deposit but I got 2 quads of a class 3 instead (I didn't complain about that!) The whole time he was mumbling about his blood pressure and that the lady he was living with had wild cats that weren't house trained... haha. I also placed arestin in 5 areas (passing off my PE) and finished him in and hour and half and then was asked to see another patient. He was a 1b with little deposit and some staining. The perio chart and exam had already been recently done, I just needed to take some bitewings. He had massive bilateral mandibular tori so Connie had to help me get some good images. I was able to finish him before lunch. My afternoon patient had a full upper denture and about 10 mandibular teeth. His charting and x-rays were recent enough as well so he was a perio maintenance. He had major restorative overhangs on most of his anteriors and admitted that he brushes only twice a week and never flosses (Probably why he has dentures) The first thing he asked was if I was "one of those slcc girls" I told him no I was a Weber girl and got started. He then later asked me if I was a top student in my class. I told him that everyone from Weber is pretty up there. He said that I was gentle and he felt that I actually cared and that I was a lot faster than the other girl. I was able to get him to agree to use the flossers and soft picks and showed him proper brushing. I removed some calculus from his denture with my ultrasonic, that was kind of cool, and then finished him up pretty quickly. It was tiring to see three patients in one day but I felt like I got a lot done and was pretty stoked to get more quads of a 3!
