complete

Today I saw my first patient from start to finish, granted I didn't take xrays and she was a 1B, but I passed off my removable appliance PE as well, so that is good. I came back after lunch to do my peer calculus PE and got that out of the way. I am slowly coming along, I can do this!

clinic session x 2

4 PE's, 4 quads 1B, 2 quads II, 6 PA's and I am officially tired! It's been a long day but I feel successful, now if I can keep it up only a few more weeks to go!

Today I took two PA's on my patient and got 2 quads scaled. He was a 1B so I should have been able to complete him but I over analyze and second guess myself. I need to trust myself and have more confidence. I wanted to pass of diagnodent and had everything set up but I was so focused on getting to scaling that it didn't happen. This is crunch time I have a lot of work to do but I have to take it one day at a time. I have to step it up even though I feel like I am doing all I can handle I need to be more persistent in passing off PE's. And now I am boring myself with this entry so I'll be leaving now... :)

Termination of Spring Break

Well today was a wake up call that we are no longer on vacation, and a Monday at that, but things went pretty well overall. My friend came in, this was her second appointment and I was able to finish her up and even pass off a PE, at least I hope I passed. The ultrasonic scared me until now, it's not so bad. I was a little worried though this morning when I put on my scrubs and thought, this is weird, and then when I was setting up my chair I asked myself if I even remembered how to scale. I tell you coming back from from summer vacation will probably be tough if I already feel I am forgetting everything in a week's time. Wish me luck to make it through spring!

First Class 3

Today my patient from the resource list showed up I am so grateful because I talked to a senior student who said he tends to miss appointments. Thanks to Mr. Solomon who made the call he was able to talk to him in Spanish and get him to come in. He was a nice guy it was somewhat difficult with the language barrier but I found felt that by demonstrating the best I could it made it easier. He had previously been seen in the clinic and was classified as a 3 and luckily (for me) this time he was a class 3 again. I was able to scale one quad, his calculus was all subgingival which made it hard not to visually see it, I made 3 errors but overall it went well. He is scheduled to come back next month I just hope I will be able to get him finished!

Today was good, I scaled a full mouth of 1b but it still felt like a lot, I really need to step it up or I'll never get through anything! I wanted to pass of the diagnodent PE but I didn't get it worked into the schedule. I hate looking at the requirements because I have so much left to do, luckily I found a class 3 to come in on wednesday, hopefully it works out!

It is wise to always have a patient scheduled

Today I didn't have a patient scheduled, so this is how the day went... I show up, set up,  knowing that if all else fails I can pass off my sharpening PE. I look at the resource list and find one little lonely name highlighted in yellow (meaning the patient can come in whenever). Turns out he was a class 3 which I needed but he was under the name of a senior student. I call the student and she says she thinks he is really good at no showing. I look in his chart and also see that he doesn't speak english so I have Mr. Solomon call for me. Well he was at work and can't come in until next Wednesday (great, I have that day free too). So I go back to my pod and sit down to pass off my PE and Mr Solomon comes in and says there is someone in the waiting room who wants a cleaning. Even though it is now around 9:30 I bring her back. She didn't need xrays but I was able to complete her OD, and I got one of her quads classified as a 2, nice! I was also able to pass of my PE. All around the day was quite stressful but I survived! Man we are getting close to the end...
