Conventional film, oh how I dislike thee!
20 PA's conventional film= 40 films to sort and mount= way too much time spent. Full OD and 2 quads of class II. Calculus removal PE. Not bad but not ideal, we are down to the wire here people! One more clinic day and twice at the VA, I think I can I think I can...

3 patients
Yesterday at the VA was a pretty good day, I saw two patients in the morning and one in the afternoon. My first patient had remarks in his notes that he got impatient and needed to stand up a lot. After I took his blood pressure which was high he got up like he was ready to leave my instructor came in and told me I could get started because I needed to do SR/P on his UL and LL. I would have said he was a perio maintenance because there wasn't much deposit but I got 2 quads of a class 3 instead (I didn't complain about that!) The whole time he was mumbling about his blood pressure and that the lady he was living with had wild cats that weren't house trained... haha. I also placed arestin in 5 areas (passing off my PE) and finished him in and hour and half and then was asked to see another patient. He was a 1b with little deposit and some staining. The perio chart and exam had already been recently done, I just needed to take some bitewings. He had massive bilateral mandibular tori so Connie had to help me get some good images. I was able to finish him before lunch. My afternoon patient had a full upper denture and about 10 mandibular teeth. His charting and x-rays were recent enough as well so he was a perio maintenance. He had major restorative overhangs on most of his anteriors and admitted that he brushes only twice a week and never flosses (Probably why he has dentures) The first thing he asked was if I was "one of those slcc girls" I told him no I was a Weber girl and got started. He then later asked me if I was a top student in my class. I told him that everyone from Weber is pretty up there. He said that I was gentle and he felt that I actually cared and that I was a lot faster than the other girl. I was able to get him to agree to use the flossers and soft picks and showed him proper brushing. I removed some calculus from his denture with my ultrasonic, that was kind of cool, and then finished him up pretty quickly. It was tiring to see three patients in one day but I felt like I got a lot done and was pretty stoked to get more quads of a 3!

Got a class 3 finally!
Today I saw my first class 3. Got charting, btws and 2 quads done in the morning. My afternoon patient canceled so I told my patient I could finish him if he was willing to come back after lunch. I don't have any more openings for this semester so when I told him he'd have to wait until January he agreed to come back. I finished his other 2 quads pretty quickly and was able to pass of my accessory fulcrum and ultrasonic PE. I got done around 2 so I decided to work on putting my class 4 patient into eagle soft, it is quite a lengthy process but I will soon be done. I then took a panoramic x-ray for a patient at midtown. I feel pretty good about today and am glad it worked out, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Tuesday I saw my dad and my nephew, the day was nice and went through smoothly. I was CA at the VA yesterday and surprisingly I didn't get as bored as last time, I was busy most of the day running around to help everyone out. Today is my day off and I am catching up with studying, I never seem to get it done with all this clinic time. 3 weeks left, it's crunch time!
